THX Select 2 Plus: Denotes a procedure that expands the previous THX Select standard to include THX Listening Modes. These presets optimize the sound for a given application: THX Cinema Mode is intended for playing film soundtracks, THX Music for normal music programs and THX Games Mode is intended to improve the background sound of computer games.
The well-known optimization methods timbre matching, bass management, Adaptive decorrelation and re-equalization are of course also part of THX Select 2 Plus. In contrast to THX Ultra 2 standard, THX Select 2 Plus is intended for small to medium-sized rooms and is correspondingly less demanding in terms of undistorted maximum level.
As with all THX standards, in order to receive the THX Select 2 Plus logo, the hardware must comply with extensive quality standards, including a further reduced noise behavior compared to the well-known THX Select standard. THX Select 2 certified Receiver/amplifier are ideal to combine with a THX Select speaker set. But keep in mind that the new certification only applies to receivers and amplifiers, not to speakers!
