Adaptive decorrelation

Adaptive decorrelation: Feature in the THX chip of a THX-licensed receiver. With mono surround information, e.g. B. with DolbyPrologic the processor distributes the surroundSignal into the right and left channels of the rear speakers and then swaps their relative Phase. The aim of this operation is to present the environmental effects in the home cinema in a soundscape that comes as close as possible to the spatiality and depth effect that prevail in a large cinema.

With digital multi-channel sound like Dolby Digital or DTS this operation is not necessary because the signal (see signal) is not mono from the outset but discreet is constructed. Therefore will decorrelation automatically switched off as soon as the Decoder detects the input of discrete signals in the decoder, which is expressed with the addition "Adaptive".
