Some well-known problems with LCD devices include: motion blur, too little contrast and pixel noise.
Technologies from LCD TV manufacturers are intended to remedy this. HiFi-Online now presents them to you:

DynaPix

This technology and DynaPix-HD comes from JVC and is intended to improve particularly bright or dark sections of the image and increase saturation to a small extent. This is achieved through a dynamic black level- And Gamma-Correction based on the analysis of Histro-
gram (for 50 frames per second). This makes the details more visible (but only if the image source is also of high quality).

Clear LCD

The combat technology from Philips is called Clear LCD. Two techniques are combined here: "Overdrive" (acceleration of the
response time to 3ms) and "Scanning Backlight" (the fluorescent tubes of the backlight flash briefly instead of being permanently lit, and a deeper blackTon reached). The shortcoming of this technology: So far, it only works with PAL-pictures.
Other LCD manufacturers also use this technique under the name "Flashing Backlight".

Active Vision M100

Toshiba is also making waves with its technology to combat motion blur. With this method, intermediate images are calculated and added from the incoming PAL images. This doubles the refresh rate from 50 Hz to 100 Hz and appears much sharper and smoother to the human eye. There is also a shortcoming here: Active Vision M100 does not yet work with HDTV-pictures.
