Video On Demand

Video On Demand: In German "video on demand", abbreviation "VoD". Describes the possibility of downloading digital video material on request from an Internet offer or service or viewing it directly with suitable software via a video stream.

Fast broadband internet access via cable or DSL (at least 6.000 kilobits per second for optimal picture quality) and an internet tariff with unlimited data volume (data flat rate) are important for the video stream, reception in real time. With the recommended bandwidth, the quality of the playback corresponds to one DVD. Some HD films are also offered, but this requires an even faster Internet connection (VDSL). VoD providers are, for example, Videoload or Maxdome.
