shutter glasses

shutter glasses: Shutter glasses are special glasses whose glasses consist of two liquid crystal displays (one each for the left and right eye) that can be electronically switched between transparent and opaque. This allows you to darken either the left or the right eye. It enables stereoscopic viewing on a computer monitor or television. With such shutter glasses it is possible to view stereo images on a monitor.

For this purpose, the left and then the right sub-image are displayed alternately. The glasses are switched synchronously. So the left eye only sees the partial image for the left and correspondingly for the right eye. If the two sub-images z. B. with a stereo camera or a 3D animation, then you see a three-dimensional plastic image.
