Rear Surround: Denotes an additional surroundChannel from Dolby Digital Surround EX and (see Dolby digital surround EX) DTS ES 6.1 (see DTS ES Discrete) whose loudspeaker is placed in the middle of the back wall of the listening room. At Dolby Surround EX the channel is split into two speaker outputs, although it is a mono signal. The rear surround can be encoded as a matrix (Dolby Surround Ex) or discrete (DTS ES 6.1 discrete).
