DVD-RAM: Another form of rewritable DVD-Blanks that are mainly used in camcorders and DVD recorders, but also in the PC sector. The abbreviation RAM stands for "Random Access Memory" and is intended to make it clear that DVD-RAMs can be accessed directly, since each storage location can be addressed directly via its storage address and the data is not read out sequentially or in blocks. DVD-RAMs survive up to 100.000 read and write operations, that is 100 times one DVD-RW. As with normal blank DVDs, the singleLayer 4,7 GB, in double layer 8,5 GB available.
