decorrelation

decorrelation: A feature in a THX chip (see THX) of a THX-licensed receiver. With the mono surround information, e.g. B. with Dolby ProLogic (see Dolby Surround Pro Logic), the processor distributes the surround signals into the right and left channels of the rear speakers and then swaps their relative Phase. The aim is to present the ambient effects in the home cinema area in a background noise that comes as close as possible to the three-dimensionality that prevails in a cinema.
