BNC

BNC: Denotes a connector for coaxial cable. It was named after its inventors, Paul Neill and Carl Concelman, and was launched in the early 1950s. Two different versions of the connector are common. There is a variant with 50 Ohm characteristic impedance and one with 75 ohms. The wave impedance is a measure of how easily, for example, acoustic waves can propagate in a medium.

The different connector types can be mated together, although there may be interference due to the difference in resistance. These plugs can also transmit relatively high frequencies of up to 4 GHz in some cases. The BNC connector consists of an inner conductor and an outer conductor shielding against disturbing fields. This connector type is often used in video and audio transmission and represents an alternative to the widespread one Cinch-Connection period.
