threshold level: Designation for the smallest possible signal strength that a Receiver can be distinguished from the noise. The threshold level will be in decibels (dB) measured. The lower it is, the more sensitive a receiver is. The optimal threshold level of a good receiver is 6 dB. But there are also receivers with a threshold level below 6 decibels.
