MD: (English) Abbreviation for MiniDisc. The MD was invented by Sony. The MD is a small, rewritable digital disc with data reduction and up to 74 minutes of playing time. The storage is done magneto-optically. Depending on the direction of magnetization, the reflection behavior changes.
