Compliance: Is the English term for the needle compliance. The deflection of the needle (in millionths of a centimeter) is measured when a defined force (of 10-11 Newtons) acts on it. It is standard to specify a dimensionless number - a compliance of 10 actually means 10 millionths of a centimetre. Average compliance values are between 10 and 20. The higher the compliance, the better the pick-up's tracking ability (all other parameters left out).
