CA module: The CA module is a component consisting of hardware and software that is installed in a slot in a satellite receiver CI interface pushed and accepts the associated SmartCard. Both are required to receive Pay TVprograms. Depending on the encryption software that the associated SmartCard requires, different programs may require different CA modules. As a rule, however, two slots are sufficient to accommodate CA modules. CA modules are not only available for pay programs, but also for additional applications such as memory cards or modems.
