Resonance: A resonance is the oscillating of a system at its natural frequency after it has been periodically excited. In the range of this natural frequency, a multiple of the amplitude of the originally exciting vibration can occur, in extreme cases this leads to a resonance catastrophe in which the system is destroyed.
