quantization noise: In the production of a digital sound carrier (CD) or one DVD takes place in the course of the conversion of analog sounds into digital signals (see Signal) the quantization. Not all digital signals obtained in this way correspond exactly to the analogue tones of the original. The difference signals, the "waste", is called quantization noise.
