optical amplifier

optical amplifier: Denotes a device that receives an incoming optical Signal amplified without having converted it into an electrical signal. The amplification occurs through stimulated emission, which is triggered by the signal to be amplified.

An optical one amplifier works basically like a Laser, but without an optical resonator. In contrast to regenerative amplifiers, they work independently of the modulation of the optical signal and are therefore sometimes referred to as "transparent".
