Downfire subwoofer: A specific type of subwoofer in which the Chassis (see chassis) is aligned in such a way that the sound is radiated to the ground. This is intended to transfer as much sound pressure as possible to the building fabric of the room and give the listener a realistic feeling of the lowest bass frequencies.
