pickup system: Refers to an electronic unit that is inserted into the tonearm of a turntable and carries the needle. Manufacturers of pickup systems are usually not identical to turntable manufacturers, which is why the interface between the tonearm and pickup system is standardized. A distinction is made between MM pick-up systems (see Phono MM input) and those on the principle MC (please refer phone-MC input) work.
