Mp3

Mp3: A compression method for audio files developed by Thomson and scientists from the Fraunhofer Institute. Inaudible signal components and multiple sequences are saved only once.

Depending on the compression selected, the storage and transmission format for audio data allows the audio data to be reduced by a factor of four to ten. Pieces of music compressed with MP3 can be played without any audible loss of quality (at a very high bitrate) on the PC and on DVDplayers (see DVD-Player) play. MP3 stands for Moving Picture Experts Group audio layer 3 ".
