Jitter

Jitter: Audio digital technology is about fluctuations in the sampling frequencythat the Klang can influence. The stream of data CD basically gives two pieces of information: how large is the amplitude at which point in time? If the clocking fluctuates, errors occur because a "frozen" amplitude value is displayed at a point in time when it was not present in the original.

It's like each frame of film is well exposed and in focus, but sometimes the roll will speed up, sometimes it will slow down - playback won't be a pleasure. Jitter causes greater errors, the higher the frequency to be transmitted and the larger the amplitude.
