Interpolation

Interpolation: Interpolation originally means "insertion", which usually means the subsequent insertion of content into an already existing work. In video image technology, interpolation means inserting or calculating new data from parts of existing information.

The change of norms NTSC (see NTSC) on PAL (see PAL) or so-called image enhancers such as "pixel Plus” (Philips) or “acuity“ (Panasonic) also work with interpolation, as do the electronics from Plasma-Displays that e.g. For example, a PAL image is more vertical on a 480-dot (pixel) panel Resolution have to represent. Error-free interpolation required highly complex algorithms and extremely fast processor chips, since everything runs in real time. Errors in the interpolation usually show up in the image with fast and diagonal movements and are called movement artifacts.
