DVD

DVD: Digital Versatile Disc. This includes both Ton-/ as well as image information. Can only about DVD-Player be played back. DVD is an optical storage medium that CD-ROM has replaced as a storage medium. From the outside, a DVD resembles a classic CD-ROM.

DVDs can be single or double sided, with one or two layers on each side. With two layers, the top layer is semi-transparent to allow laser scanning of the bottom layer.
DVDs are based on the MPEG2 standard (see MPEG-2) for data compression.

Note:
Some DVDs are provided with country codes. They can only be played by devices that have the relevant country code.
