Blu-Ray

Blu-Ray: The Blu-Ray Disc is the already very well-selling successor to the DVD (see DVD). Unlike other optical storage media, Blu-ray discs use blue-violet laser light (405 nm) and are stored in multiple steps. Per layer, on a Blu-Ray blank (singleLayer) can be stored up to 25 GB. With double-layer blanks up to 50 GB. The specifications allow up to 100 GB per blank.

So all fit HDTV-Movies (see HDTV) in MPEG2 format (see MPEG-2) on a blank. To play Blu-Ray discs, you need a Blu-Ray disc player. (Further information on this in the home cinema knowledge) Furthermore, the discs with high-resolution images also support high-resolution ones Ton. Examples are Dolby True HD and DTS-HD masters.
