7.1 Rotary vs Foiled Razors – Which One Is Best for You?

Choosing a specific product is quite difficult because there are so many choices in the market. That's why we've put together a list of the best electric shavers. This will give you an overview of the best electric shavers and help you choose the one that best suits your skin and facial hair.

There are a lot of them out there, but only a few are good when it comes to a clean shave or a comfortable shave. Which one should you choose? We'll find out together right away!

Choosing a razor is a very personal and intimate decision. That's why I can't recommend the "perfect" razor for you, because what is considered perfect for others may look different for you.

However, there are some factors that should be considered before and during the purchase of an electric shaver. Factors such as your shaving habits, the accessories you require, the look of the razor and the ease of use all complicate the purchasing decision. Our leaderboard looks at the best electric shavers on the market in terms of shaving experience and comfort level. In addition, this list will help you to find the razor that suits you best.

1. Braun Series 7 799CC - Excellent shaving results

Our first electric shaver in the range comes from the German technology manufacturer Braun. The Braun Series 7 is undoubtedly the most popular range of razors ever produced by the company. The 799cc model is thus one of the best-selling machines of all time. Without a doubt, it's the best electric shaver money can buy right now, which is why it's number 1 on our list. But enough of the praise, let's get down to business.

The shaver offers you an impressively smooth shave compared to the other shavers in our test. The Series 7 799cc differs from other electric shavers in its functions. The razor head has three trimmers. Two of them call themselves "OptiFoil" while the other one in between calls itself "ActiveLift".

The OptiFoil Trimmer helps the shaver handle even more facial hair in fewer cuts, while the ActiveLift trims short and ingrown hairs. One should also not forget that it is a Pulsonic electric razor that operates with 10.000 micro-vibrations per minute and can thus remove a large number of hairs at once.

The Braun 799cc's razor head is very flexible and moves quickly over the contours of your face. The shaver comes with a cleaning and charging station that works with alcohol. The alcohol kills 99% of all germs just by pressing a button. This sophisticated razor has 3 application modes: Normal, Intensive and Extra Sensitive. You can switch between these settings based on your preference and needs. There is also a trimmer for beards of all kinds.

All in all, the Brauch Series 7 799cc is my favorite and the best electric shaver of 2018 on the market. The quality of the device is fantastic, it has 3 trimmers, pivoting heads, different modes and a cleaning station for a comfortable and smooth shave.

2. Panasonic ES-LV95 – The best electric shaver when it comes to features and value for money

When it comes to electric shavers, Panasonic has made a name for itself by offering some of the best electric shavers on the market. While some can be found on the expensive side, their great performance justifies the price. Although the previous ES-LV81 was also one of our favorite electric shavers, it was dethroned by the improved and newer ES-LV95.
Panasonic's ES-LV95 is designed for people who want an extra clean and smooth shave. I know many claim that a manual shave is much better, but this electric shaver brings change. While shaving I noticed that the shaving experience was very natural and very smooth. My skin was not only smooth afterwards, but also very soft to the touch. It should also not be forgotten that this razor works very quickly, which saves a lot of time.

The LV95 also comes with a built-in screen, which may seem like a gimmick to some, but is very useful to use. It not only shows the exact remaining battery life, but also how long you shaved after the shave.

Considering this is Panasonic's flagship model, it's understandable that it also comes with a cleaning station for those who like it. The cleaning station is used to remove all hair from the device after shaving and to clean the blades with a simple push of a button. A protective cover and leather sheath is included for those who don't want to put their shaver back in the dock.

But let's also look at some not so good little things that I noticed when using the otherwise excellent Panasonic ES-LV95. The first thing I noticed was that the razor can sometimes be compared to a swarm of bees in terms of volume.

In addition, the razor may be too rough to use for people with sensitive skin. But don't worry, because the skin will get used to the razor. So the problem will solve itself.

In summary, the Panasonic ES-LV95 is a wonderful electric shaver that is a bit more expensive but offers a lot of convenience. There are hardly any defects that influence the purchase, which is why we consider the electric razor to be one of the best on the market.

3. Panasonic ES-LV65 – Good for the small wallet and for your clean shave

Like the ES-LV95 from Panasoni, it's very similar to the previous Panasonic model, but uses 4 blades and doesn't come with a charging dock.

Just like the Arc 5, this model is also designed for an extreme

m ensure a good and smooth shave. Unfortunately, the device lacks the necessary comfort.

Apart from the single trimmer head, the Panasonic ES-LV65 has exactly the same features as the newer Arc 5. It also comes without a cleaning and charging station. The 4 blade system built into the razor is very advanced and sharp enough to give you a smooth shave. The blades are very durable, sharp and they can pivot at an angle of 30 degrees in any direction. It also features the linear 14.000 cpm dual action motor which is very powerful.

Besides this feature, the battery life is around 40 minutes on a single charge. Comparable devices run for around 50 minutes.

4th Choice 3615-0470 - Best electric razor for sensitive skin

Wahl is an American brand and the number one choice for many professional barbers. The Wahl 3615 is affordable, smooth, strong and a solid electric shaver that meets every man's needs.

This electric shaver uses the Dynaflex Cutting System, which helps users effortlessly reach places like the neck and jaw. Dynaflex offers the user maximum flexibility to prevent all types of cuts and skin redness. The hypoallergenic foils of the device ensure a smooth and soft shaving result. There is also protection against bacteria of all kinds.

That is why the razor is perfect for people with very sensitive skin.

The design of the razor is extremely good and allows for very easy use. It's all plastic, yet feels good in the hand, and even an upgrade to a metal body isn't that much more. The best part is that it is hypoallergenic. This benefits users with sensitive skin. A retractable trimmer for beards and sideburns is also included.

Before you buy this razor, you should know that it is actually a "finishing razor". This is best for stubble hair. So if you shave every day, then this electric shaver is a good choice for you. Otherwise, I encourage you to check out the other razors in this listing.

In addition, the strong vibration of the device makes it very difficult for you to shave easily and comfortably.

All in all, the Wahl 3165 is a good choice for people who have sensitive skin, as the hypoallergenic heads are kind to them. The device has a long battery life, which benefits people who travel a lot. Easy to clean and easy to use. There is no doubt that you get value for your money.

5. Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s – Good electric shaver and easy to use

Braun has consistently provided its customers with some of the best electric shavers that are not only wonderful, but most of the time they are affordable. Continuing the tradition, let's now look at the Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s. It is a budget electric shaver that aims to provide a great shaving result without paying a high price.

Of course, the thing that most people expect from an electric razor is ease of use. This is because most high-end razors overwhelm many users with too many functions. This is slightly different with the ProSkin 3040s. Along with some other electric razors, it is one of the easiest models to use. So there is only a small chance of doing something wrong when using it.

Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s
Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s

The electric razor also has a built-in display, which is gradually finding its way into most devices on the market. The display can show you the remaining battery life. Although this indicator is not always 100% accurate, it allows you to charge the shaver whenever you feel like it.

When it comes to the total shaving experience, the Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s gives you a great experience. A fair price is always realized for the device. Of course, it doesn't come close to the result of some flagships in the industry, but that's not necessary given the simplicity and value for money. I couldn't ask for a better electric shaver with a better one for the price Performance desire.

Finally, the shaver does not require you to wet your face before using it. Nevertheless, it can also be used with a wet face. Although it may not matter to some people, the razor allows for a quick shave between getting up and going to work.

The one thing I didn't like about the Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s shaver was that even though a close shave was advertised, it still left some stubble. This would not have been a problem if this test had been about a trimmer. However, we are talking about a fully-fledged electric razor. From a subjective point of view, the charging process takes a lot of time, which is why it is good to charge the shaver overnight when you don't need it.

Otherwise, the Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s is an excellent electric shaver that is not only affordable, but also largely does its job. Even if it's not the best electric shaver ever, it's still better than many other devices on the market.

6. Panasonic ES-RT67-S503 - Advanced 3-Blade Electric Shaver

Last but not least, we present the Panasonic ES-RT67-S503.

It makes no difference whether you buy a Panasonic shaver for €30, €300 or €500. A clean shave is the motto of every model. With its 3-blade system, this electric razor also offers you a convincingly smooth and extremely favorable shaving result compared to the models considered so far.

Whether it's the swinging head, 3 extremely sharp blades for a close shave, an LED charge status indicator or the Wet & Dry technology; is there something you are missing? All the advanced features you need are on board for a price under €70.

Panasonic ES-RT67-S503
Panasonic ES-RT67-S503

The shaver does not come with a cleaning or charging base, which is why the price is so low compared to the other devices on our list.

The razor has 3 Nanotech blades, which are hypoallergenic, making them excellent for sensitive skin. The adjustable swivel head makes it possible to shave the contours of the face smoothly and softly.

In conclusion, the Panasonic ES-RT67-S503 offers you a lot of features at an affordable price. As already mentioned, it comes without a cleaning station to keep the price as low as possible. I'm sure that spending an extra minute in the bathroom cleaning your razor in the morning shouldn't be a problem. The battery life is great and the shaver has Wet & Dry technology. So you can use it in the shower with foam or gel, as well as on your dry skin.

The big electric shaver test - A buying guide

Advanced electric shavers offer a combination of different technologies, most of which fit into one small package. Before deciding on an electric razor, either from the list above or from any other source, I recommend reading the following buying guide. He will help you understand the technology of these modern electric shavers.

Rotary vs Foiled Razors – Which One is Best for You?

I prefer foil razors to rotary razors because they shave very close and offer a soft skin feel.

Rotary razors were originally introduced to provide the most comfortable shaving experience possible and to shave heads. Undoubtedly, rotating razors are much more comfortable to use compared to foiled ones. However, they fail when it comes to a clean shave.

The foiled razors are the experts. They use sharp blades and advanced technology, which I personally really like.

Here are a few more definitions of terms that are important for a better search for a razor:

  • LED display: A display with LEDs is sufficient to tell you the current battery level. The display lets you know when you plug in the device to charge and warns you when the battery is low.
  • Wired and cordless shaving: Few electric shavers allow you to shave while charging. The Braun Series 9 doesn't allow you to, while the Braun Series 7 has no problem with that.
  • Easy to use and clean: Pay attention to the design of the electric shaver, easy to use and clean. Almost all of the shavers listed above come with a cleaning station. All you have to do is place the shaver in the station and press a button. Then the station will clean your shaver. Some models do not come with a cleaning station, so you have to clean the shaver manually. But that won't take you more than a minute.
  • Retractable trimmer: Most razors also include a trimmer that slides out when needed. You can use the trimmer for sideburns or beard care, for example.
  • Wet & dry technology: Wet & Dry technology allows electric shavers to be used either in the shower or on dry skin. If you have sensitive skin, you may prefer shaving gel or foam. This is where this technology comes into play.
